During the design phase for a wedding cake, we always stumble upon the subject of real flowers versus sugar flowers, or gumpaste flowers as they are known as in the industry. Is one better than the other? Is one less costly than the other? Given how often we are asked, I’ve compiled a list of pros and cons to help make the decision easier.
There are a lot of big decisions to make for any wedding. You will find yourself concerned with picking the perfect dress, venue, menu, cake, and music for your wedding for the first few months of planning, but as you get closer to the big day, you will realize how many little decisions need to be made as well. In the big scheme of your wedding, those little details will make a big difference in how well the wedding day turns out for you and your guests. Unfortunately, little details are easy to forget. You never want to be the bride who’s panicking on her wedding day because she forgot to pack the right lip gloss. Instead, you can prepare for all these little things to create a beautiful and stress-free wedding day. Here are some of the wedding reception details that brides commonly forget and that you definitely don’t want to miss.
When it comes to wedding planning, choosing a date is oftentimes one of the biggest hurdles to overcome. Idyllic summer weddings, while offering that fairy tale experience, mean more stress when it comes to finding venues, vendors and doing it all within budget. There’s also the weather to worry about – and if the last few years of unpredictable summer thunderstorms are to be used as an example, planning a date so far into the future can be equivalent to rolling the dice.
After a wedding cake consultation, I’m always asked by our couples if I had any tips that I could share with them for their big day. One tip that comes to mind is of course cake related! I always suggest having them ask their venue or catering staff to pack a take away box containing a few slices of their wedding cake. Odds are that they never even had a chance to try a slice of their own cake, and it is a shame to have to wait a full year to take a fork to the top tier.
From birthdays to showers, from religious ceremonies to weddings, events have become quite the spectacle. What used to be a simple meal at home has now become a lavish outing with sumptuous food and decor. But who is complaining? These are times for celebrating and living life to the fullest, so why not do it in style, and with class?
One of the hottest trends emerging for 2014 wedding cakes is hand painted floral motifs on wedding cakes. This romantic water colour effect can be seen everywhere from invites, program cards, linens and bridesmaids dresses. We took inspiration from these hand painted invitations created by Heart Felt by Bri and recreated the floral motif on our new addition to our I Do! Collection. Appropriately rustic and whimsical, our design can be used for a high tea bridal shower or outdoor tented reception. For a more modern twist, use navy and gold as trim.
