With a new year comes new changes. This year’s shake up at I Do! Wedding Cakes has been dedicated to customer experience. As we inch closer to the start to 2015’s wedding season, we are trying to navigate our way through consultation season with our wits still in tact.
We pride ourselves on our customer service, and we have been blessed with really NICE couples who make my job easy. So easy that I look forward to opening the doors on the weekends.
During the design phase for a wedding cake, we always stumble upon the subject of real flowers versus sugar flowers, or gumpaste flowers as they are known as in the industry. When it comes to wedding planning, choosing a date is oftentimes one of the biggest hurdles to overcome. Idyllic summer weddings, while offering that fairy tale experience, mean more stress when it comes to finding venues, vendors and doing it all within budget. There’s also the weather to worry about – and if the last few years of unpredictable summer thunderstorms are to be used as an example, planning a date so far into the future can be equivalent to rolling the dice.
After a wedding cake consultation, I’m always asked by our couples if I had any tips that I could share with them for their big day. One tip that comes to mind is of course cake related! I always suggest having them ask their venue or catering staff to pack a take away box containing a few slices of their wedding cake. Odds are that they never even had a chance to try a slice of their own cake, and it is a shame to have to wait a full year to take a fork to the top tier.
